YDMD is a design studio offering unique evocative products. From the departure point explore material, technique, function and meaning into university education, exhibition curating, experiment exploration, contemporary craft. As a designer team both based in Beijing and London, we play the role as a bridge between two different cultures. it provides the chance to understand both commonalities and differences in culture and techniques.

Interdisciplinary backgrounds endow YDMD with creative and surprising approaches to making. We solve problems in the meantime of making new ones. We are interested in both highly experimental artistic explorations while. But we also enjoy turning museum exhibits into private evocative objects that belong to the consumer, trying to help the owner express unspeakable feelings and intangible thoughts, we help you show a 'joking' attitude towards the world.

No matter in Eastern or Western cultures, it has turned the role of contemporary craft from presenting the beauty of materials and craftsmanship into intellectual productions. However, they always encounter prejudices from the arena of fine arts when in the spotlight. YDMD does not aim to give contemporary crafts a clear identity in visual cultures but presents audiences with a series of extraordinary domestic objects strolling between art and ordinary daily life.
