Choreo Archive challenges the very idea of what an archive is built around and what it is meant to accomplish: the preservation, protection, and control of past thoughts, stories, identities, and bodies. Conceived as part of an interdisciplinary curatorial project led by Yanru Hu, the exhibition reimagines the archive as a site for mapping and preserving the embodied knowledge we hold in relation to one another.

Rather than fixating on static memory, the archive becomes a space for propagation—where practices are shared, and artistic thinking continues to unfold. By subverting the spatial and conceptual logic of traditional archives, Choreo Archive explores the destabilizing potential of choreographic thinking.

The accompanying workshop series investigates how performance practices can function as archival methods through reenactment and embodied media. Sessions offered a broad introduction to personal dance archiving, along with practical tools and hands-on exercises that encouraged participants to care for their own lived archives in new and meaningful ways.
